It has been only15 days since BMW officially brought their naked street bike the S1000R to India . We now look at what exactly the s1000r delivers in terms of performance . The BMW S1000r, in looks is the naked version of the immensely popular S1000rr . Being stripped of its fairing the bike now looks much more aggressive and mean , a proper street-fighter . The “Tail Up – Nose Down’ concept employed on the bike just makes you stand up and take notice.
The S1000r carries the sames powerplant as the 1000rr , which is a 999cc Four Cylinder Inline . However being the Naked version the Bike is a bit tuned down . The power produced now comes down to 160 bhp from the 193 bhp produced by the RR . This is quite normal ,since the s1000rr needs the immense power to cater its Track bred soul , while the S1000r being bred for the streets , the higher power is not normally in need. The torque figure is 115.5 Nm at 9250 Rpm . The maximum rpm also drops by 2000 , to 11000rpm in the S1000r . Thus the S1000r ensures that there is plenty of low and medium end power and torque for the rider . The bike comes in two riding modes – Rain & Road and also provides ABS and ASC ( automatic Stability Control) as standard .
The entire bike weighs almost 207 kg and is built around an Aluminium frame . Up-side down Telescopic front forks and Rear monoshock along with the alloy swing arm does the suspension Duties . Braking is done by the 320mm front and 220mm rear discs ( both with ABS) .
The BMW S1000r is priced at almost 23.83 Laks ( ex-showroom Bangalore ) and is available in Red , whit and Black colors.
