2014 Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift Silently Launched In India

Maruti Suzuki has launched the much awaited facelift to their popular Model ,the Swift in India, and the car is now priced starting from Rs 4.42 Lakhs. India’s most popular premium hatchback has been upgraded with very minute exterior changes while increasing the feature list in the inside. Lets check out what has changed

EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR

On the exterior of the swift facelift , not much has changed . The car follows a similar design it has followed since inception.However, The car now comes with honeycomb type grilles similar to that seen in the Ertiga. The front bumper has been revised and larger air dams have been provided.The foglamp housing is now lined by a silver accent ,which replicates the DRL’s found on the international swift variant .

The interiors are where all the changes have been made. With close competition like Hyundai providing much more features, Maruti Suzuki had to succumb to the pressure. The swift facelift now gets much more advanced features even in to the lower variants . For the base trims Lxi and LDi , rear adjustable headrest, and height adjustable seats have been provided. The seats can now be folded in 60:40 ratio. The company has decided to produce an advanced model to the L variants, named the Lxi+ and LDi+ , which carry additional features like front power window and remote locking . For the mid VDi and Vxi models , a proper audio system ,electrically adjustable wing mirrors and keyless entry have been provided.The VDi also gets ABS .For the top Z trims ,all the goodies including Bluetooth audio system with steering mounted controls, rear parking sensors etc have been provided.

ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE

The greatest upgrade the new swift facelift  gets is the improvement in fuel efficiency . The petrol variant has improved its fuel efficiency figures by almost 10% to 20.4kmpl ,while the diesel variant gets similar hike in efficiency and now returns almost 25.2km per liter.For the improved efficiency the petrol mill has been detuned and the 1.2 liter engine now produces only 83.1 bhp of power ( down from 85bhp). There is no change in power figures of the diesel mill and the 1.3 liter multijet will continue.
