The 2015 Maruti Suzuki Swift – First Drive and Review
Its almost too hard to believe that the second generation swift was launched way back in 2011. Since then the hatchback has managed to hold on to the”India’s most popular” tag quite comfortably. But with the insurge of new competition in 2014 , this tag was facing some serious threat . This is when Maruti Suzuki decided to launch a mid-life 3rd generation facelift of the Swift last month . For all the same reasons , The Maruti Swift Dzire will also be getting a facelift in the coming months. The car we have tested out for this review is the middle Vdi(diesel) trim.
Well if it aint broke don’t change it , that seems to be the same theory Maruti has gone by.The design of the old-gen Swift is quite popular through out India , and Maruti Suzuki hasn’t tried to bring any drastic changes to it.The car now looks much more closer to its international variant , sporting a larger air dam and silver inserts up front. However the International variant gets LED daytime running lights instead of the inserts. The grilles up front gets a new honeycomb type design.
Coming to the sides,No change seems to have been made except for the alloys. The top end ZXi and ZDi get an all new alloy design with 15 inch wheel , while the middle VXi and VDi gets newly designed wheel caps. The lower L varints just gets wheel cups.14 inch wheels have been provided for the mid and low level trims
The rear doesn’t get any change . The 2015 Swift gets three additional colour options, to make a total of six colors.
- Pearl Arctic White
- Glistering Grey
- Silky Silver
- Mysterious Violet
- Fire Red
- Granite Grey
