Suzuki To Offer Part Replacement In Wake Of the Gixxer Rusting Issue
Suzuki launched the 2015 Gixxer 155 last September , and the bike was received whole-heatedly by the Indian customer ,raking in good sales figures.Life seemed to be going good for Suzuki here, until a few weeks back ,when a number of dealers started receiving complaints about a possible rusting issue. Most of the complaints were mainly concentrated in the coastal areas ,where the content of salt in air is higher than normal.
The Rusting is mostly concentrated on the handlebars , exhaust and disc brake regions. The issue has also been found on the nuts and bolts. This is a serious quality concern , which may put many potential customers off.
Suzuki has however looked in to the issue , and acknowledged that the claims where true. The good news is that they will be providing free replacement to any parts that have been found rusting. The manufacturer has also claimed that this problem has been dealt with for all subsequent 2015 models . Rust free coating will be provided for the nuts and bolts.
The Suzuki Gixxer 2015 comes with a 155cc single-cylinder mill, which produces 14.8 PS of power and 14 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed transmission. The bike comes with a 2-year warranty , which can be extended to 5-years on purchase.Suzuki is also expected to bring a fully faired version of the new Gixxer in 2015- based on the same platform , and hopefully without such problems .
