Mercedes India has updated their A-class and B-class entry level line-up in India , completing three of the 15 launches that the manufacture has scheduled for the country in 2015. Both the MFA-platform based cars have been provided with subtle cosmetic updates , improved interiors and better tuned engines.
Mercedes B-class, although a good package in India , failed to generate the same customer interest that the A-class and the GLE enjoyed.Mercedes is however really quick to look in to their customer feedback , and most of the drawbacks of both the cars have been properly addressed. Take for instance the higher tuned diesel engine of the new A-class.
2015 Mercedes B-Class Facelift
Mercedes B-class has always been criticized for its plain design , even more so in a country like India where luxury always demand a certain ‘oomph’ factor. The front of the car has been revised , now sporting a newly designed bumper with wider air intakes. The grilles are new and so is the headlamp cluster. The side of the car remains the same , but newly design 16″ alloy wheels have been provided. The rear gets restyled bumper and taillamps.
The interior package is now even more attractive offering new features like three-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel , larger 7-inch display with COMAND infotainment system and satellite navigation , sportier dials and 12 different ambient lighting options. Other than this features like panoramic sunroof , 7 airbags, hill start & hold function etc have been lifted out of the outgoing model.
Under the ‘new’ beautifully sculpted hood comes a choice of two engine options- 1.6 liter four cylinder petrol and 2.2 liter four cylinder diesel. The petrol mill continues to produce the same figures of 122 Ps of power and 200 Nm of torque , but the diesel mill is now tuned higher to produce 135 Ps of power and 300 Nm of torque.
2015 Mercedes A-Class Facelift
With the new changes the 2015 A-class facelift has also become a much more desirable package. The improved power and better interiors are sure to appeal a much wider audience.
Exterior changes are kept to bare minimum , infact the only visible change is the new 5-twin spoke alloys. However the interior are now much better, offering more comfort features like Panoramic sunroof ,ARTICO Messancy fabric sport seats , electric lumbar support for driver and some.
The new A-class comes in two variants namely 180 SPORT and 200 CDI SPORT .Addressing the ‘underpower’ problem , the higher tuned diesel mill seen on the new B-class will be used. The suspension has been tweaked as well , making it better suited for the Indian road conditions.
