Suzuki has launched India’s most affordable fully faired motorcycle- The Gixxer SF, at prices starting from Rs. 83,859/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). Being based on the popular Gixxer streetfighter, the Japanese manufacturer will be hoping to enjoy the same if not better sales for this particular model. The SF shares some visual cues with its bigger GSX siblings, and if that was not enough, Suzuki has decided to bring along a special MotoGP edition Gixxer SF, which comes in their signature motoGP paint job and livery.

Bringing in some much needed GSX in to the design, the Suzuki Gixxer SF gets the all so familiar inverted triangular headlamp, flaked by two beautifully carved out air intakes. However, apart from the obvious inclusion of fairing, the side and rear remains similar to the Gixxer(streetfigher). The rear view mirrors have now found their way on to the fairing and the front indicators have moved slightly downwards. The dual muffler exhaust is now provided with a beautiful aluminum cover. What comes as a bit of a let down is the omission of clip-on handlebars, which would have provided the bike an aggressive ride posture.
At 2050 mm, 785 mm and 1330 mm, the length, width and wheelbase(in the same order) of the Gixxer SF remains same as the Gixxer. However the SF is taller (1085mm) and heavier (by 4 kgs) than the latter. All the mechanicals, including the suspension and braking remains the same. This also mean that rear disc brake is not provided.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF comes powered by the same 154.9cc air-cooled,single-cylinder,4-stroke mill, which produces 14.8 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. The engine is paired to a 5-speed transmission. ARAI certified mileage figure of 63.5kmpl will stand, courtesy of Suzuki’s Eco performance technology (SEP).
The Suzuki Gixxer SF will be pitted against the Yamaha Fazer and the upcoming Bajaj pulsar 150AS, being positioned in a similar price bracket. But being fully faired, the bike enjoys a clear advantage over its competition. The following weeks should definitely see a huge increase in bookings for Suzuki.
