After much delay Maruti Suzuki India has decided to rename their upcoming SUV as the ‘Across’, instead of SX4 S-cross by which it is sold globally.The company had been facing big problems regarding the name in India and has now finally worked it out, retaining the signature ‘Cross’ branding. The car is expected to be launched next month.
Looking at a recent spy picture, the Suzuki Across front fascia can be seen to come with twin-slat chrome grilles, projector headlamps and daytime running LED lamps. On the sides it has got silver finished skid plates with black body cladding and 16-inch alloy wheels loaded with disc brakes on both front and rear. Interiors are expected to get wide range of features like key-less entry, start-stop button, automatic climate control, Smart Play infotainment system,cruise control and lots more.
Recent reports suggest that the new Across will be arriving with 3 engine options namely 1.4-litre K-Series petrol, 1.3-litre DDiS diesel and 1.6-litre MultiJet diesel . The base petrol and diesel mills will produce 90 and 92 PS of power respectively, and are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The top 1.6 liter diesel trim will produce 122PS of power and is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission, sending power to all four wheels (optional).
Expected Prices: 9 lakhs(base trim) to 13 Lakhs(1.6L AWD trim)
