Volvo V40 Cross Country Petrol- Specification, Price, Features
Volvo has officially launched the petrol derivative of their V40 Cross country hatchback in India at prices starting from Rs. 27 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Being powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine that produces 185 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque, the V40 cross country is now not just beautiful and feature loaded, but powerful as well. The car also gets the distinction of being ‘the most powerful hatchback in the country’.

Talking at the event Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said,
“We are excited to bring the petrol variant of V40 Cross Country to India. Buoyed by the growing acceptance of V40 Cross Country since June 2013 when we launched it here, we have now decided to bring in the petrol variant at a very competitive pricing in order to increase our reach further. I believe our customers would be enthralled with this new car.”
Coming back to the engine, the top power of 185PS/180HP is reached at 5700 rpm and the maximum torque is obtained between 1600 – 5000 rpm . The Engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels. The fuel tank capacity is 62L and Volvo claims an efficiency figure of 16kmpl. 0-100 km/h is reached in a very impressive 8.6 seconds.
Exterior, interior and features remain same as the diesel trim and like any good Volvo the car is loaded with safety tech. This include 7 airbags, cruise control, City Safety Technology, traction control, park assist, ABS, EBD, ESP, push button start, keyless entry, park assist system and reverse camera with rear parking sensors among others. Leather seats with ventilation, panoramic sunroof, ,Engine Brake Energy Regeneration are also provided. It is thus no surprise that the hatchback received 5.0 rating in the Euro NCAP collision test.

The Volvo V40 Cross Country petrol will compete with likes of the Mercedes Benz A-class and BMW 1-series in the segment. The 1-series is almost 5 lakhs cheaper than the V40 CC at 22.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), however the superior looks and better features makes the latter more desirable, and is more than enough to justify the premium.
