Some of India’s most popular hatchbacks at the GIIAS- Mod Inspiration
This year’s GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) has some of the best cars and motorcycles from around the world participating. And among them are some very familiar faces in not so familiar avatars- our premium hatchbacks.
Let’s check them out in detail:
Black Maruti Suzuki Baleno with body kit
An extensively kitted, black Maruti Suzuki Baleno was showcased at the GIIAS 2016. The car is likely to reach Indonesia this year itself. This particular colour is not available in India, which makes this showcase all the more special.
The car comes with sportier front and rear bumper with silver coloured lining throughout the skirts. Other features include mesh grille, bigger radiator intake, 16 inch alloy wheels and roof spoiler.

Powering the car is Maruti Ertiga’s 1.4L K14B four cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, expected to produce 91.1 PS and 138 Nm of peak torque. While a 5-speed manual is standard, an automatic is also likely to be provided.
Custom, phantom black Hyundai Elite i20
A custom, phantom black Hyundai Elite i20 was showcased at the GIIAS 2016, along with the regular variant.
The black colour along with contrasting red accents at front and red taillights at rear, improve the overall sportiness of the car. Other features include extended front bumper and side skirts, LED DRLs in the foglamps (above headlamps would’ve been better), 17 inch alloy wheels, roof spoiler and faux silver diffuser.
If Hyundai plans to make a more powerful variant of the i20, this is the one to go by.
Yellow Honda Jazz RS CVT Special edition
Honda Jazz RS CVT Special edition comes in a flashy yellow colour, with red RS badge on the grille and red lining surrounding it. LED projector headlamps and DRLs are provided.
At the rear, large spoiler and faux silver diffuser can be seen.
A 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine delivering 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque sends power to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.
