Nissan kicks 2017- Full report
Nissan kicks is a compact-SUV from the Japanese manufacturer, which is primarily intended for Brazil and other South American markets. It is the official car for the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympic,s and will lead the torch bearing convoy across 300 cities and towns in Brazil.
This makes it a very special car. Let’s check out what it has to offer.
Nissan kicks 2017- Exterior
The Nissan Kicks started life as a concept at the 2014 Sao Paulo Auto show and the production version hasn’t changed much from the concept. The car is based on Nissan’s ‘V’ platform, which also underpins their Micra and Sunny. Nissan’s design houses in USA & Brazil, led by their global center in Japan were the ones who designed the car.
Up front, The Nissan Kicks gets the manufacturer’s signature grille and U-shaped chrome lining (similar to the one seen on Micra), swept back headlamps, wide air dams and horizontal LED foglamps. The car however ditches conventional ‘SUV’ ruggedness for a more playful/fun fascia.
The sides are well proportioned, with aggressive character lines, flared wheel arches and different coloured ‘floating’ roof (Similar to the Maruti Brezza). The rear is praiseworthy as well, with beautifully shaped taillamps and funky boot lid.
While the SUV is compact, it doesn’t adhere to the Indian definition of ‘sub-4m’. The car measures 4,295mm in length, 1,760mm in width, 1,590mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,610mm
Nissan kicks 2017- Interior, Features
The Nissan kicks comes with a beautifully designed interior, which can be single or dual tone based on the variant. Some features in the top SL trim include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, large multi information display integrated with the instrument console, analogue speedometer, lather wrapped flat bottom steering wheel and Automatic climate control.
Nissan kicks 2017-Engine, Mileage and Transmission
Powering the Brazilian variant is a 1.6-litre flex-fuel engine (that can run on both ethanol and petrol) , expected to produce above 100 bhp of power. Transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
|Mileage (highway)||Ethanol- 9.6kmpl
|Mileage (City)||Ethanol- 8.1kmpl
Though Indian specs are not known, the flex-fuel engine is unlikely to reach the country. The Terrrano’s 1.5-litre K9k diesel seems a likely candidate.
Nissan kicks 2017- Price
Nissan already sells the Terrano in India, which should be replaced when the Kicks comes along.
|Expected price in India||Rs. 8 lakh (staring)|
Nissan kicks 2017- Launch date
Nissan India President, Gullaume Sicard has said that they have shifted focus to SUVs and Crossovers. The Nissan Kicks, being a global model will be an ideal candidate for India.
|Expected Launch date||2018|
