Renault had recently launched a 1 liter version of their popular Kwid hatchback, hoping to expand their market some more. But this has led it in to the path of another very popular car- The Tata Tiago. Let’s check out how each of them fair in terms of desirable factors like looks, cabin space, engine, mileage and price.

Exterior and dimensions
In terms of design, the Tata Tiago is definitely a step ahead of the Renault Kwid 1.0. Based on the manufacturer’s IMPACT design language, the car comes with gorgeous front fascia, beautiful character lines and good looking rear.
The Tiago is a proper hatchback and is designed such a way that it will impress both male and female customers.
The Renault Kwid on other hand can be classified as a micro SUV, and is rugged in appearance. It still looks good, but isn’t as proportional or attractive as the Tiago.

As you can see, while the Tiago is bigger than the Renault Kwid, it still offers lesser boot space and lower ground clearance.
The Renault Kwid 1.0 has a very simple cabin design with sufficient head and leg room for average sized occupants. The instrument console is digital and a touchscreen infotainment system is provided on the gloss black center console. Good 300 liter boot space is another talking point of the car.
Being based on the RX trim, the Kwid 1.0 comes with more features like 2 din audio system with 2 speaker, which are not available in the XM trim of Tiago.
If you look at Tata’s Tiago, it provides a more up-market feel than the Kwid, and higher variants are much better equipped as well. Sufficient space is also provided inside.
Some of the car’s features included dual pod instrument cluster with centre TFT display, Harman infotainment system with Bluetooth, Navigation, USB and AUX support, body coloured highlights around AC vents and a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel.
Renault Kwid 1.0 vs Tata Tiago – Engine and Performance
The Renault Kwid 1.0 is equipped with a 1.0 litre all aluminum petrol engine producing 68 bhp of peak power and 91 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. In comparison, the Tiago comes with a 1.2 litre three cylinder MPFI Revotron petrol engine, delivering 84 bhp of peak power and 114 Nm of peak torque.
Even with the higher power figure, the Tiago still return better mileage of 23.84 kmpl as opposed to the Kwids 23.1 kmpl. Some of this can be credited to its Multi-drive system.
Renault Kwid 1.0 vs Tata Tiago- Price
The new Renault Kwid 1.0 is priced between Rs. 3.82 lakhs and 3.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Tata Tiago petrol is priced between Rs. 3.20 lakh and Rs. 4.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Priced at Rs. 3.89 lakhs, it is Tiago’s XM Revotron variant that will provide Kwid 1.0 with most competition.
Renault Kwid 1.0 vs Tata Tiago- Verdict
In this comparison the Tata Tiago has come out as the clear winner. It is better looking, more powerful and better equipped than the Kwid 1.0.
However in similar price range, the Kwid is slightly better equipped than the Tiago.
But it must be noted that the Kwid’s range start from Rs. 2.65 lakhs (800cc model), which is where it has the most success. The Tata Tiago on the other hand is seeing most its sales coming from the top variants.
