Kawasaki has revealed an ‘R edition’ of their popular Z1000 streetfighter for the European market. The bike gets improved specs, new colours and an EURO-4 complaint engine. Price of the model will only be revealed at the Motorcycle Live show at Birmingham’s NEC which starts on November 19.
The Kawasaki Z1000R is cosmetically limited to its own version of Metallic Spark Black and Metallic Graphite Grey colour schemes, with special graphics on faring and ‘Z‘ logo embossed rear seat.
Higher spec Brembo M50 monobloc calipers grip the 310mm Brembo floating front discs, providing braking power. Addition of lateral grooves and stainless steel braided brake hoses improve heat dissipation and consistency.
The flash of gold at the rear is due to a new remote pre-load adjustable Öhlins S46DR1S shock. The bike’s front suspension remains same but has been tuned to match the Ohlins.
Coming to its powertrain, the new Zed gets the same 1043cc in-line-four cylinder mill which is now EURO-4 compliant. Power and torque figures remain unchanged but Kawasaki has tweaked the ECU to provide smoother power delivery.
Both the base and ‘R edition’ of the bike will be made available in Europe from early next year. There is no news on an Indian launch yet but there is good chance that Kawasaki will bring it to the country as well.
