According to a report by MotorOctane, a Bajaj V125 / V12 is currently in the making. The Indian manufacturer has maintained that their ‘V’ brand is exclusive to the premium commuter space, and the V125, as the name suggest will be a 125cc motorcycle.
After the success of their V15, it is unlikely that Bajaj will change much of their original design for the V125. The bike should have similar shaped headlamp at front, ergonomic single seats, large fuel tank and more. It is however not confirmed weather the metal from INS Vikrant will be used.
Powering the new Bajaj V125 will be a 124.6 cc single cylinder, air cooled DTSi mill, which is also seen on the Discover. This engine is capable of producing 11 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 10.8 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm, and will be mated to a 5-speed transmission.
When Bajaj launched the V15 in India, early this year, it came with backing of the country’s first aircraft carrier ‘INS Vikrant’ under its name. This, along other positive factors, struck a chord with the Indian customers, and has helped the manufacturer to place another big name under their belt.
At the farthest end of the affordable range, Bajaj is also readying up their flagship Dominar 400 sports tourer. It will be powered by Duke 390’s engine and is expected to come by end of this year. The V12 should be launched only after this, possibly in January 2017.
