2017 Swift available in three standard and RS variants each, 8 colours
The 2017 Swift has been revealed in its entirety after images from a brochure for Japan was leaked online. The new model gets thorough exterior and interior changes along with choice of 6 variants and 8 colours. Prices start at 1,343,520 yen (Rs. 7.76 lakhs) there.
It is understood that 3 standard and 3 RS variants will be made available for Japan, the latter getting sportier body kit, red embellisher across the grille, among other changes. The 2017 Swift that was spotted earlier this month was also a RS variant and thus we currently do not have any clear pictures of the base variants that will make its way in to India.
The top of the line 2017 Suzuki Swift RSt Boosterjet model gets features like auto LED headlamps, LED DRLs, halogen fog lamps, 16-inch alloy rims and ORVM-mounted turn indicators.
Interior of the 2017 Swift has changed much and gets restyled centre console, twin pod instrument dials with a large multi-info display, automatic climate control, circular HVAC vents and new HVAC controls, flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, paddle shifters (RSt only), keyless entry, push button start/stop, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Apple Carplay connectivity, and heated front seats. Safety features like ABS, EBD, airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, Dual Camera Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning, and speed limiter are provided, either according to variants or as an optional safety pack.

Swift XG, XL, Hybrid ML 2017
These standard variants are powered by a 1.2L DOHC VVT 4-cyl petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox. AWD can be opted for all models with CVT. The hybrid ML variant gets Suzuki’s SHVS system that will also be seen on the new Maruti Ignis, and has a claimed mileage of 27.4 km/L (2WD CVT).
Swift RS, Hybrid RS, RSt 2017
The Suzuki Swift RS variants come in 3 engine options –1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine, 1.2L 4-cylinder DOHC VVT with SHVS, and a1.0L DOHC Boosterjet (turbocharged) 3-cylinder mill. While the former two are mated to either a 5-speed manual or CVT (AWD optional), the latter, which is exclusive to top RSt variant gets a 6-speed automatic with steering-mounted paddle-shifters.
