The 2017 Maruti Ignis is all set to launch on 13th January, 2017. The car has already been launched in UK for a price stating from £9,999 (INR 8.67 lakh). It will only be available through the manufacturer’s premium Nexa outlets.
When compared to other Maruti cars, the Ignis has a very unique design. It gets a bold front fascia with large rectangular grill and prominent logo. The headlamps are interesting as well, fit with LED DRLs and projector unit. The car’s tall stance is complimented by an angular design, raked wind screen and accentuated wheel arches.
The Ignis’s rear doesn’t seem to be as attractive as some of its other bits and almost seems as a glorified Alto. Further comments cans only be made once we get our hands on the car.
The cabin is unfamiliar, but looks good. It doesn’t source much from their other cars, and most parts including knobs, controls, switches, instrument console and seats are all new. The large touchscreen infotainment system comes with Android Auto and Apple play features and gets Bluetooth, AUX & USB connectivity.
With 3-star NCAP rating for the Euro spec model, features like standard airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors etc are provided.
The Maruti Ignis will draw power from their staple 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine options, mated to 5-speed manual and an automatic transmission in India. Prices should starts at Rs. 5.5 lakhs for the base variant.
