2018 Honda Gold wing (& hybrid) revealed
The current Honda Goldwing came out sixteen years ago and since then it has remained relatively unchanged. There have not been any major news concerning the bike for the last six years as well. Now though, an heavily upgraded 2018 model is on its way.

2018 Honda Gold wing design, cockpit & changes
The new Gold wing gets an updated design which is sharper and more aggressive that its predecessor. It also gets new LED headlamps and a digital instrument console. The bike will be available in two variants- Touring & Bagger. The latter doesn’t come with a top box or pillion backrest, and has a shorter windscreen.
The bike’s cockpit still holds a lot of switches and buttons but they are more civilised now. Its console almost goes all-digital and houses a large central display flanked by an analogue speedometer and tachometer, and two other smaller displays. The array of 4-way switches, colour coded buttons, central joystick and more, are responsible for controlling its expanded list of features. These include audio, navigation, Bluetooth, cruise control, riding modes and heated grips.
The 2018 Gold wing has also ditched the telescopic forks for a Hossack-like front fork, similar to the one on BMW’s K1600. Its handlebars connect to a semi-active suspension unit featuring a single spring-shock, and help to improve steering precision and lean angles while also eliminating fork dive and flex. This set-up also reduces weight on the front.
2018 Honda Gold wing engine & transmission
The new Honda Goldwing seems to be powered by the same 1.8-liter, 12-valve flat-six cylinder engine. It’s not clear whether this mill will be differently tuned. Unconfirmed reports also claim that a four-cylinder hybrid could widen the lineup. This mill, if launched, will do duty on base variants (F4B and F4C).
The pictures reveal that the Gold wing will gain a dual clutch automatic transmission, apart from the standard manual. It will have seven forward gears and a dedicated reverse gear.
2018 Honda Gold wing price and release date
The Honda Golding 2018 will be officially revealed next month. It will also be present at the EICMA 2017 in November. The motorcycle should begin to reach dealerships early next year.
Prices could increase slightly from the current model’s $24,699.
