Renault Captur vs Creta, Duster, XUV500
The Renault Captur has been launched in India. The car is priced higher than the Duster and will compete with SUVs like the Creta and XUV500 in the country. It is based on the Duster’s MO platform and the Indian-spec model will be the first to get right-hand drive.
Here’s a look at how it compares with competition.
Renault Captur vs Creta, Duster, XUV500- Design & dimensions
The new Captur doesn’t have a typical SUV design and is thus different from cars in its price segment. This can be easily noticed when comparing with cars like the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Mahindra XUV500. However, the manufacturer is likely to heavily on this ‘uniqueness’ factor.
Though the Captur looks compact, it is bigger than the Duster and Creta, measuring 4,333mm in length. However, being based on the Duster’s platform, they do share similar wheelbase of 2674mm. The car is smaller than the XUV500.
The Captur’s interior is well equipped and certainly better than the Duster. Features like 7-inch ULC 3.0 infotainment, automatic climate control and rear AC-vents are provided.
Renault Captur vs Creta, Duster, XUV500 engine & mileage
The Renault Captur sources its engines from the Duster. The Duster comes with a 106 bhp, 1.5 liter petrol mill as well as a 1.5L diesel in two states of tune- 84 & 108 bhp. The smaller diesel mill hasn’t made it to the Captur though.
The figures are lower than both the Creta and XUV500. The Hyundai Creta in both its petrol and diesel trims is capable of producing over 120 bhp of power. The Mahindra XUV500 doesn’t come with a petrol option but its mHawk diesel can deliver nearly 140 bhp of power, which is much above that of the Captur.
The Renault Captur comes with a 5-speed manual transmission for petrol variants, while it is a 6-speed unit for diesel.
