This 2019 Honda S2000 render is probably not what you want
There are lots of rumors that Honda is working on a 3rd generation S2000. The previous model was discontinued in 2009 after almost ten years of service. The year ‘2018’ commemorates 20th year of the first Honda S2000 and is also the Japanese manufacturer’s 75th Anniversary. So there are more than enough reason to bring out something big.
|Engine||New turbo-gasoline mill|
There are no solid pictures of the car yet but leaked patent images from 2015 were alleged to be a concept version of the S2000. Now, with chances of the car making production being even higher, Motor1.com has went ahead and made a realistic render.
Here are more details of the car:
2019 Honda S2000 design
This is probably not what hardcore fans of the S2000 want, but recent developments have shown that ‘sharper’ is definitely the ‘future’. Almost every new-generation sports car, whether budget-friendly or premium, have received this treatment. Most recently, the Toyota Supra was seen in a sharper-than-ever guise and it will be based on the new generation BMW Z4 platform.
The new render sees the Honda S2000 lose its signature roundish, semi-boxy appearance. The car looks good but doesn’t have anything significantly new to offer in the design department.
We want to see something that looks atleast vaguely similar to the original S2000 when the car is showcased next year. Otherwise, what’s the point?
2019 Honda S2000 engine & transmission
Honda has no shortage middle-weight engines to power the S2000 but many reports claim that it will be a new block doing this duty. Specifically, a turbocharged petrol mill with electric supercharging that produces under 350 bhp of power. This engine will be mated to a dual-clutch, eight-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Honda S2000 price, release date
There is no official confirmation as to if or when the new S2000 will be released. It could debut next year and go on sale as a 2019 model. Price will start near $50,000.
