Fiat Cronos to replace Linea – Spy Pictures
Fiat has confirmed that they will call their upcoming, Argo-based sedan as ‘Cronos’. The car will debut in South American markets soon and will replace the ageing Linea globally. It was earlier known under the codename X6S and was extensively spotted testing with camouflage.
|Price in India||Rs. 7.20 lakhs|
|Launch in India||2018|
|Engine||Petrol & Diesel|
|Expected India debut||Auto Expo 2018|
The Fiat Cronos is based on the Argo hatchback but being Italian at heart, it simply can’t gain a boot and be done with just that. They enjoy distinct identities and when compared to the Linea, the Cronos is more modern, spacious and obviously, better equipped.
Design wise, the car gets a completely new front fascia with the company’s latest ‘wraparound’ design language. New twin-barrel type LED headlamps can be seen, positioned on either side of its new grille. The bumper is different as well and has a sharper design to it.
The Cronos’ sides have strong character lines running through their length and the aggressiveness is accentuated by beautiful alloy wheels. Its rear requires special mention as well and has attractive wraparound taillamps, blacked-out bumper and integrated boot spoiler.
The car’s interior too will have many features in common with the Argo. However, being a premium mid-size sedan, expect thing to be slightly more upmarket.
Fiat Cronos engine & specification
Brazil: Power for the Cronos should come from the same engines that power the Argo. These include 101 cv (101 hp) 1.3-litre Firefly and 109 cv (109 hp) 1.8-litre E.torQ flex-fuel mills. The Argo’s smallest 1.0-litre Firefly will, however, not make it in to the list. Transmission options include 5-speed manual, 5-speed GSR automated manual and 6-speed automatic.
Fiat Cronos India
None of the two engines mentioned above will make it to India. Instead, the 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol motor should continue with minor enhancements. Diesel variants could get a new 1.5-litre MJD engine. A 6-speed manual transmission will be standard while automatic units could be made available as an option, higher up the order.
Since Maruti has already shown us how frugal these engines can be, we expect the Fiat Cronos to be highly fuel efficient as well.
|Fiat Cronos petrol mileage||18 kmpl|
|Fiat Cronos diesel mileage||23 kmpl|
