Suzuki has launched a facelift of their popular Access scooter in India and the new 2-wheeler will be priced at Rs 57,292 (onroad Cochin). The Suzuki Access was first introduced in 2007 and the basic design remains the same even now.Though this does pour accolades to the longevity of the design ,at present it is not doing any good to Suzuki’s sales .Further any changes that Suzuki had managed to bring on to the scooter had mostly been limited to the minor exterior tweaks. A line of not-so successful limited and special editions are proof to this . Even now Suzuki seems to be playing its safe by sticking to the same old design path, as the the facelift gets only some minor cosmetic upgrades .
The 2014 Suzuki Access will get some new feature to stay in tune with the rising competition which include a new chrome plated silencer cover and an aluminum grab rail , A Maintenance free battery, tubeless tyres ,steel front fenders and A new central locking system equipped with safety shutters. The new access 125 will be available in choice of 5 colour options namely :
Glass Sparkle Black
Metallic Sonic Silver
Candy Antares Red
Pearl Mirage White
Metallic Matte Fibroin Grey.
The Engine and performance of the new Access remains similar to the old-gen and features a 124cc power-train which churns out 8.5 Hp of power and 9.8 Nm of torque. The Suzuki access will compete with the likes of the Mahindra Duro and the Honda Activa . Both the scooters have very strong presence in the Indian market and Suzuki needs to up the ante if it is ever to dent the sales of its competition.
