After lots of anticipation and spy pictures later , We have got the date . The KTM’s racing version RC 390 will be launching in the Indian Market on 9th September 2014.Its junior version the RC 200 is expected to be launched after the launch of RC 390.All the three RC versions were unveiled at the EICMA International bike exhibition in Milan,Italy held last year.
The official booking of the super bike has started in many KTM showrooms. From the information given by the Cochin KTM dealers, the booking of KTM RC 390 is not yet officially started but after booking Duke 200,the booking can be later replaced with RC 390 after the launch of the vehicle.
KTM RC 390 has a 375cc single cylinder liquid cooled engine which gives a peak power of 43ps and a torque of 35 Nm.The bike is loaded with a 6-speed transmission system. The RC version is embed with a compact, three chambered silencer with produces a roaring racing sound (for all those who must enquire) and it is placed beneath the engine (underbelly) almost at center position. The new design of centralising mass is the one of the major tweak of the RC series from the other KTM models.
ABS technology is also provided in the bike which resolves the safety issues. The front kit and the aerodynamic wind shield reduces the wind pressure towards the rider.Other main features of KTM RC 390 are clip -on handle bars, turning signals embedded on the mirrors,a dual headlight cluster, wind shields, reduced suspension travel.
The expected price of RC 390 is about 2.25 lakhs INR and its quite economical price for a bike with all this features. At present Kawasaki Ninja is the only competitor for RC 390 ,but after the arrival of Yamaha R25 and CBR 300R the competition is going to get really tight. The insurge of bigger capacity machines ensures that the Indian youths can gradually upgrade from their 150cc bikes to a 300cc level. However ,the quality of Indian roads is always a big problem for these bikers to ride these bikes safely .
Please do wear the proper safety kit f you are ever on roads with these machines .
Stay tuned for more.
