DC has been extensively testing their low cost Indian-made sportscar , The Avanti over the last few months . The car was earlier spotted testing with heavy camouflage in Pune ,And now finally an uncamouflaged one as been spotted not far from there. The car looks every bit like the one showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and is expected to follow the design in to production
The DC Avanti was expected to make its official launch later this year and a full production model was showcased at the 2014 India Auto Expo. However things doesn’t seem to have quite worked out and a 2014 launch seems a bit far fetched . The car will sport a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder ford ecoboost engine which will produce 250bhp of power and 360Nm of Torque. The transmission duties will be gone by a 5 speed manual box.Dilip Chabria, the iconic Indian designer claims that the car will do 0-100kmph in just 6 seconds and will have an electronically Limited top speed of 180kmph. Not the fastest or the most beautiful sportster around , but makes up with a relatively lower price tag of 25-30 Lakhs.
DC plans to make upto 100 of these cars each month ,following its launch and will be produced locally at DC’s Talegaon plant. The car has been receiving mixed responses from all corners and a proper verdict can only be made once the car comes out.
