Kawasaki will officially launch the much awaited Z250 in India ,on the 16th of this month. Though we had anticipated a 2014 launch of the Z250 , a surprise inclusion is the ER-6n . Both the bikes are naked versions of the Ninja 300(on looks) and the Ninja 650r respctively. In India , the bikes are brought as a cheaper alternative to the faired models and given the success of the z800 and other naked bikes here , the Z250 and the ER-6n is expected to have a pretty good run.
Surprisingly though the launch date is scheduled one day ahead of another big tie-up that India is going to see. Pune based DSk motorcyles will tie up with Italian manufactures Binelli and will go official with a joint announcement on the 17th of October . With bikes like the BN302 (which surprisingly is enjoying quite a bit of popularity with the Indian audience) Binelli should bring some Italian flair to the Indian sub-500cc segment.
Lets check out what the the two Kawasaki’s has to offer . Both the bike will sport a parallel-twin cylinder engine. The kawasaki Z250 will come with a 249cc mill producing 31.54Ps of power and 21.56 Nm of torque. The power figures are not even close to the KTM Duke 390 which according to our expectation should sell for 80k less. But with its Z800 inspired looks , and a highly refined twin cylinder engine and great performance, competition can be said to be really close even with the massive price difference.
The ER-6N will sport a 649cc mill producing close to 72 Ps of power and 64nm of torque,And to be frank seem a much more beautiful motorcycle than the 650R. Both the bikes gets flat handle bars instead of clip-ons, liquid cooling , 6 speed gear box , telescopic front forks and rear monoshocks.
The bikes will be locally assemble at Bajaj’s chakan plant .
Stay tuned for more updates!
