BMW has launched the 2015 Mini line-up in India, and the cars now come with some new and exciting features along with a new diesel engine option. Both the 3 door and 5 door versions of the Min have been launched ,and a 1.5 liter diesel engine option has been provided for both. Prices start at Rs 31.85 lakh for the 3 door variant and 35.20 lakh for the 5-door one.
The Mini Cooper petrol will come with a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder mill which produces 137 Ps of power and 220 NM of Torque while the top end petrol variant , The Cooper S has a 4 cylinder 1.5 liter petrol engine which churns out 194Ps of power and 280 Nm of torque.The top end diesel model , The Cooper D will have a 1.5 liter mill producing 116Ps of power and 270Nm of torque. Based on the variants, the transmission could be the 6-speed steptronic auto or the 6-speed steptronic sport.
Both the cars have increased in dimensions. The 3 door variant is now 8mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm taller than its predecessor while the 5 door variant is a good 162mm longer and 11mm taller than the regular 3 door variant , dimensions being 4005 x 1727 x 1425 mm . The boot space is a respectable 278 Liter , which can further be increased to 941 liters by folding out the rear seats.
With the inclusion of the 5 door and the diesel variants , MINI India is hoping to pull in a good share of customers from the ultra premium hatchback segment.A feat that we believe is quite achievable in the coming months.
