The anticipation surrounding the 2015 Honda Jazz has been on for sometime now. The car was expected to be launched by March 2015 . However, due to the production congestion in its facilities ,we hear that the launch has been further delayed. The 3rd generation Honda Jazz will only be launched in India by July 2015.
The second generation Jazz was pulled out of production in 2013 , owing to poor sales. With the 2015 Jazz, Honda will be feeling much more confident especially with their current breed of cars like the Mobilio , City and Amaze doing really well in the market. The new Jazz will be more affordable and efficient than its predecessor.
The Honda Jazz ,as you can see will be based on the Honda City Sedan. The current generation City was launched last year , and soon became one of the most sought after Sedan’s in India .So expect the Japanese manufacturer to lift many interior features from the City.Mechanically , The car will sport the 1.2 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine options of the Amaze. This is because, in order to gain the excise benefits provided by the Indian government for small cars (sub-4 meter) , the capacity of petrol and diesel engines should not be more than 1.2 and 1.5 liters respectively.
One of the main highlight of the car will be its automatic-CVT gearbox with dual mode paddle shifters. This is also a first in the segment.
With production of most Honda cars going in full swing , their manufacturing facilities too are working in full capacity. In such a case , if the Jazz is to be launched , it will only cause further delay in production. So going by Honda’s standpoint ,the delay is actually a good move. They will be finishing of any production backlogs , and freeing up more space for the Jazz. This will lead to lesser delivery time.
