The 2016 Renault Duster is expected to be unveiled sometime next year , and we’ve got hints on what will change. The new SUV is expected to be a 7-seater, with the addition of 3rd row jump seats.
The Renault duster was launched way back in 2012, with a 7.19 lakhs starting price tag. It soon became one of the most successful compact SUV in the market ,even competing with cars like Scorpio,Xylo &Ertiga, even though all of them came with 3 rows of seat. It piled up almost 6000+ bookings in the first week of launch.
The popularity that 7-seaters are getting in India may have made the company to think about introducing two jump seats behind the 2nd row .This will make the duster even more attractive to the Indian buyers. However , we sure do hope that Renault properly addresses the many quality concerns arising.
However ,If the 3rd row seats are introduced, the boot space will get a major reduction. But as with most cars in the segment the rear seats can be folded up to free up some space. Since most families in India will not be looking for 7-seaters , the 3rd row seats could be an optional feature of the car .
Though Renault has confirmed that the 2016 Duster will be available in both the petrol and diesel engines options ,it is still not clear whether they will use the current engines or new ones with different state of tune. The current generation Duster comes with a 1.6 liter four cylinder petrol engine, producing 103bhp of power and 145nm of torque. The diesel variant is available with 83bhp and 110bhp states of tune, mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. An AWD variant is also on offer.
Stay tuned for more updates!
