Nissan owned Datsun motors has confirmed that they have preponed the launch of their 3rd model in India, which was earlier scheduled for launch in 2017.The good feedback they are receiving for the recently launched compact family wagon- the Datsun Go+,may have contributed to this.
Mr Vincent Cobee ,Corporate Vice-President & Global Head of Datsun said on an interview with PTI that
We have been constantly learning, and establishing a new brand in the market takes time but we are confident of the Datsun brand doing well in India. So we could advance the launch of the third vehicle from Datsun before 2017, as originally planned
Though Datsun has cars like the On-do sedan in the international market, the 3rd model is expected to be the Redi-Go hatchback which was earlier showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. Affordability will still be the most important factor that the manufacturer will be concentrating on.
The Datsun Redi-go, unlike the existing Go hatchback will be made keeping in mind the younger generation of customers in India. True to its name ,the car will come with a really peppy design, with aggressive character lines running through out.
The 2016 Datsun Redi-go is being indigenously developed at Renault-Nissan business center in Chennai, and will go on production at their combined plant in the same city.
