The first pictures of the next generation Toyota Innova has leaked online. Being Toyota’s top selling model in India , the MPV has remained almost unchanged since making debut in 2005. This time however the manufacturer has decided to go for a complete cosmetic overhaul.
The front of the car receives the most change, and resemble cars like the Camry and Corolla Altis. Large hexagonal grilles are provided ,on top of which large twin chrome slats can be seen.As the slats move to the sides, they integrates on to the ‘presumably’ double barrel projector headlamps .The foglamps now sport a sculpted design and extend on to the grilles.
Though the sides resemble the current generation model , new design elements are integrated to provide a fresh feel. Sharp character lines are provided, extending from the rear to the front wheel arches and the same can be seen below the window area, extending on to the bonnet. Sharper D-pillar and new rear quarter glass are visible. The rear has also changed , sporting redesigned taillamps, new bumper and a multi-layered bootlid.
The new Toyota Innova will continue to be based on the IMV ladder frame chassis and the engine options are also expected to remain the same. However tuning should be optimized for better fuel efficiency .
The 2016 Toyota Innova will make official debut at the 2016 Indian auto expo.
