Volvo India has announced that they will be preponing the launch of their much awaited XC90 SUV to May this year, owing to popular demand.The Swedish carmaker who is currently on a roll in the country, had just recently launched the V40 cross country petrol. Bookings for the car will open soon, however deliveries will commence only by September.
Based on the SPA (Scalable platform Architecture) platform, the Volvo XC90 will compete with the likes of the Mercedes GLA class , Audi Q7 and the BMW X5 on launch.Prices should start from Rs 65-70 lakhs.
Mechanically, a 2.0 liter in-line 4 cylinder mill which produces maximum of 225bhp of power and 470 Nm of Torque will be provided on the new Volvo XC90.The engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission, sending power to all 4 wheels.
Initially India will only be getting top of the line Inscription trim , and obviously the car will be jam packed with features. The list includes an Android Auto/carplay integrated touchscreen infotainment system, voice recognition, 4-zone climate control, Electric powered seats, Orrefors-designed gearlever and much more.
Signature Volvo safety pack, that includes ABS, traction control, cruise control, driver and passenger side airbags, driver alert control and the likes will be provided as standard.Volvo will also be bringing the feature loaded Momentum trim by the end of this year.
