Audi India has imported the RS6 Avant to the country, and is reportedly planning to launch the car here very soon. The RS6 Avant is based on the A6 Avant station wagon/estate, and comes with very high performance figures along with lots of practicality. This may seem a great deal on paper, but bringing the car to India poses its own problems. How Audi will find the market to sell a 1-cr plus station wagon, whatever performance it may provide is a question on its own. Indian’s have never related a station wagon to performance, and unless Audi does something like what Jon Olosson has done to hist Avant, that will remain the case.
Jokes apart, the standard Avant comes with a 4.0 litre turbocharged V8 that produces maximum of 560 HP of power and 700Nm of torque. The engine is mated to 8-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels via a Quattro AWD system. 100 kmph is achieved in just 3.9 seconds and the top speed is pegged at 304 kmph (On optional pack). Impressed yet?
The exterior got a refresh last year, and the front fasia is now more sporty, featuring restyled LED DRL’s. As the pictures may indicate, the RS6 Avant comes with huge amount of space in the back (1680-litres with rear seats folded down) and lots of head and legroom. The interior is sporty and compliments the performance oriented nature of the car.
The German manufacturer has lined up 10 cars for India in 2015 and we have a stong feeling that the RS6 Avant will make it in to this line-up. It will be interesting to see how the car fares in the country, but for the time being watch out for the new Audi TT that will be launched on 23rd April.
