The much awaited 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M has finally reached Indian shores, but as expected you will be tad bit disappointed with the prices. Being sold in Europe at £14,999.00, we had already known that the bike will cost close to Rs.22 lakhs here, and this figure will stand. The new Yamaha R1 and R1M sells for Rs. 22.34 and Rs 29.43 lakhs respectively in India. This will give the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10r and the recently launched Ducati Panigale 899 some clear cut advantage in their respective segment.
DESIGN: Though there is varied opinions about the design of the new Yamaha R1, we here at autopromag feels that the engineers at Yamaha has done up a pretty fine job. The design is something that grows on you over time and resembles Yamaha’s motoGP offering the M1.The Yamaha R1M is also the closest thing to a motoGP motorcycle you will ever get at the price.
COLOURS YZF-R1 : Racing Blue and Racing Red
The 2015 Yamaha R1 is powered by a forward-inclined parallel 4-cylinder,liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC,4-valves mill capable of producing 147.1 kW (200.0PS) at 13,500 rpm and 112.4 Nm (11.5 kg-m) at 11,500 rpm. This is before taking in account the ram-air effect. The YZF-R1M comes with the exact same engine, but what pushes up its cost is the huge number of sophisticated equipments provided, which (as claimed by Yamaha) has never before been accessible to the general public. This include features like electronic racing suspension, communication control unit, YZR-M1-derived carbon bodywork, 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and 3-dimensional control.
Seeing the huge popularity that Superbikes are enjoying all over India, we feel that most manufacturers should seriously consider making their offerings more affordable. What do you guys think?
