In August Mahindra & Mahindra has released the official sketch images of its upcoming sub-compact SUV – the Mahindra TUV300,today it has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 6.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The TUV 300 will be available in six variants – T4, T6, T6+, T6 AMT, T8 and T8 AMT and will be powered only by a diesel engine. The Mahindra TUV300 will take on the Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Creta, etc.


Under the hood, TUV300 is bind with Mahindra’s updated mHawk engine called the mHawk80. The diesel engine that displaces 1,493 cc and qualifies the TUV300 as a small car. Using a twin scroll turbo charger, the mHawk80 engine pumps out a power of 82.85 bhp and 23.45 kgm of torque. Power will be sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.Automatic-transmissions


Mahindra had mentioned earlier that the styling cues for the car have been inspired from a battle tank, to lend the TUV300 a tough stance. Mahindra’s new third-generation body-on-frame chassis, it features a prominent bonnet, square-shaped wheel arches, a high ground clearance and a tail gate-mounted spare wheel. It also sports clear lens head-lamps, toothed front grille, and a gloss black D-pillar.



Interior of Mahindra TUV300 is equipped with immense features such as an infotainment system with a large touchscreen, similar to the one seen on the Scorpio and the XUV500, that will likely include audio-video and navigation systems. It will also get dedicated USB and AUX ports along with Bluetooth connectivity. The TUV300’s dashboard will feature a mix of faux aluminium and chrome. The instrument cluster houses two large, circular, chrome-ringed dials, like on the XUV500, and there’s an all-new three-spoke steering wheel, with a prominent Mahindra logo at the center. Top trims of Mahindra TUV300 will come with steering-mounted controls as well. However, the TUV300 is likely to miss out on automatic climate control.


The new SUV gets Mahindra’s Micro-Hybrid technology which automatically switches off the engine when idling and in neutral gear which save fuel and reduce emissions. Mahindra TUV300 also comes with an Eco mode as well as an AC Eco mode, which balances engine power for driving and AC usage to help deliver high fuel economy. The company claims that TUV300 delivers 18.49 kpl.


Mahindra is offering the TUV300 with safety features such as ABS and dual front airbags even on lower variants as paid options and also comes with a 3 year/1,00,000km warranty.


TUV300 will be available in 6 shades – Verve Blue, Dynamite Red, Molten Orange, Glacier White, Majestic Silver and Bold Black.
