The Yamaha MT-09 has been launched at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016, for a price of Rs. 10,20,000/-. This is one of the most exciting news coming from the manufacturer’s “We are young” pavilion. The bike was launched by Bollywood heartthrob, John Abraham.
The Yamaha MT-09 has enjoyed quite a bit of success globally, and Yamaha with their competitive pricing, will be hoping for the same here in India. The bike is a great blend of looks and features, and has a powerful 3 pot mill to match. The bike is brought here via the CBU route (Completely Built Unit), and is provided in two colour options – Race blue and Matt grey.
Powering the Yamaha MT-09 is a 847cc inline 3 cylinder mill producing 115PS @ 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm at 8500 rpm. The mill is coupled to a 6-speed transmission. Improving the ridebility is a compact aluminium chassis, Traction Control System (TCS) and a complex ABS system. The ride position is upright.
The MT-09 gets telescopic suspension at the front and swing arm(link type) suspension at the rear. 298 mm dual disc brakes have been provided at the front, while a 245mm single disc unit is provided at the rear.
The Yamaha MT-09 will find chief competition from the Kawasaki Z800 in India, and some of the Italian brands in that space. Being the flagship of MT series, we may find more bikes from the series being launched in the country in the coming years- this include the MT-03 and The M-slaz( MT-15).
