After overwhelming success in their passenger car division with launch of the Tiago, Tata motors seem to be in mood for a little experimentation. A heavily kitted variant of the popular model- Tata Tiago Aktiv may soon be made available to the public. The car was earlier showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, Delhi.
The Aktiv is a fully accessorized variant of the Tiago. The manufacturer was earlier planning to sell the accessories individually but changed their mind seeing the success of their new car. Though it doesn’t really qualify to be called a crossover, aesthetically it is similar to the ones available in the market.
Initially the Tata Tiago Aktiv will be made in batches and will be sold by order. However upon favorable response, mass production will be taken up. Currently the car demands Rs. 30,000/- over the normal variant, and can be booked through Tata Motors’ personalisation studio.

The Tata Tiago Aktiv gets a very aggressive design. The bumper is finished in black and so is the roof. Black body cladding is extensively used. The alloys sport a new design, and metal inserts can be seen at various places. Metal scuff plates, roof rails and the new body decals give the car a rugged appearance. As of now no mechanical changes have been reported.
The Tiago is powered by 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol and 1.0-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel mills. The petrol mill delivers 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, while the 1.05- diesel engine produces 69bhp of power 4,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,800-3,000rpm. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Taigo has already amassed close to 22,000 bookings and currently has waiting period of 3 months.
