A more powerful, 1 liter version of the Renault Kwid has been launched in India. Currently the car is only available with manual transmission and an Automated Manual transmission (AMT) variant will come out later

With their Renault Kwid bringing in good number of sales, the french automaker is readying up a more powerful variant, for customers who want a bit more. The Kwid 1.0, as it is called, was earlier showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, Delhi.

UPDATE: The Renault Kwid 1.0 MT has been launched in India. An AMT variant will be launched nearing the festive season.

The car will compete with 1000cc versions of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon.

Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT- What’s new?

ENGINE: A 999 cc three cylinder SCe engine producing 68 PS and 91 Nm. The car comes with best in class power-to-weight ratio of 97 PS/tonne and fuel efficiency of 23.01 kmpl

Interior and exterior have not changed much, except for the addition of 1.0 badging, two-tone gloss grey ORVMs and the black and white chequered decals on the side. Renault will however provide a number of customisations.

Features including 7 inch MEDIANAV touchscreen system with Bluetooth, GPS-guided navigation, fabric seat upholstery with red inserts, front power window, driver’s airbag (optional), front seat-belt pretensioners,and remote central locking. Font passenger airbag and ABS are not provided on the new model.

Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT- Launch in India

According to Renault India’s MD & CEO Sumit Sawhney, the Kwid 1.0 will be launched in India this month.

-Update: Only the manual variant of the Kwid 1.0 will be launched this month (August 22)

Prices starts at Rs. 3.82 lakhs for the 5-speed manual variant, while the AMT (RXT variant) may be priced at Rs. 4.0 Lakhs.
