Nissan has unveiled the 5th Generation Micra at the ongoing Paris Motorshow. The car is heavily inspired from Nissan’s Sway concept which was showcased at Geneva last year and is now almost unrecognizable as a Micra.
The car is obviously bigger than the outgoing model and the new dimensions are 1,995 mm x1,742 mm x 1,452 mm. Length and breadth have gone up by 170mm and 77mm respectively while the height has reduced by 69mm. The car has a wheelbase of 2,525 m (+75mm).
Exterior: The new Micra follows Nissan’s all new design language which was also seen on the Kicks. The car gets V-motion grille, beautiful headlamps, 17” wheels, floating roof, extended roofline converging at the spoiler and an aggressive character line extending from the front to rear.
Interior: On the inside, dual tone colour scheme, flat bottom steering wheel, circular side air-con vents, 5.0-inch MID, 7.0-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay smartphone integration and 6-speaker Bose sound system are provided.
Engine: The Nissan Micra 2017 is available with 0.9L turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, 1.0-litre NA petrol engine and 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine producing 90 hp, 73 hp and 90 hp respectively.
Is this the Nissan Micra that will launch in India?
No, Nissan is developing a new Micra for Indian and other Asian markets based on a modified version of the current V-platform. It is expected to get many of the manufacturer’s newer design language but nothing drastic as the above shown car.
