Hyundai is all set to re-launch their popular Santro hatchback in India. It will replace their now-discontinued i10, which means that it won’t be placed in the entry level space. The car was recently spotted testing on our roads.

2018 Hyundai Santro Exterior and Interior
It seems that Hyundai is reluctant to let go of the Santro’s signature tallboy stance. There were reports that the car will resemble Hyundai’s i-Metro concept (shown above) but that, atleast from this three-quarter spyshot, isn’t true. Its design can be seen as an evolution of both the Santro and the i10. This isn’t bad, considering how popular both the models where in their prime. Hyundai will however provide features and equipment more fitting with the times.
The new Santro’s front and rear could be inspired by Hyundai’s bigger cars (especially the upcoming 2018 i20). This will also bode well with the manufacturer’s new marketing strategy of bringing small volume, premium cars initially (Santa Fe, Elantra) and then launching smaller ones based on them (Creta and Verna) to pique customer interest.
Interiors will also be new and the car will be rich in features. Pictures should begin to come out soon.
2018 Hyundai Santro Engine, Transmission, Mileage
Though exact details are not available yet, the new Santro is said to come exclusively with an upgraded version of the company’s 1.0-litre Kappa three-cylinder petrol engine. This mill is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and produces 69 PS currently. An AMT model could also be provided.
Slight improvement in mileage is also to be expected.
2018 Hyundai Santro price and launch in India.
The new Hyundai Santro will be launched in 2018 and prices are expected to stand just fewer than 4 lakh rupees. It could make official debut at the 2018 Auto Expo, Delhi.
