Kawasaki is all set to launch their retro-classic motorcycle- the W800 in India next year. It is reported to come to the country in limited numbers via CBU route, and could command a very hefty price tag. Fifty units of the bike were earlier allotted to Indonesia with prices starting from IDR 249 million (approximately INR 12.72 lakh).
The W800 is a gorgeous looking motorcycle. It has a retro styling that comes with circular single headlamp, round mirrors, chrome finished silencer, chrome fenders, spoked wheels and ribbed seats. It fits right in with Triumph’s Bonneville in the niche segment.
- Standard- Ocean blue
- Special edition – Ebony (Black-White)
Powering the Kawasaki W800 is a 773cc air cooled parallel twin engine that produces 47 hp at 6500 rpm and 60 Nm comes up at 2500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission.
Suspension duties are done by telescopic forks at front and twin coils at rear, while the front disc and rear drums take care of braking. ABS is not provided.
Earlier Kawasaki had imported one unit of the W800 to India for homologation and this seems to be the one that has been spotted. The manufacturer hasn’t officially confirmed if they plan to adopt CBU route yet and if the decide to go with CKD, prices are sure to come down from the currently reported 10 lakhs.
