New Duke bike 2017

KTM has introduced the 2017 KTM Duke 250, Duke 200 and Duke 390 in India today.  Even though the launch of Duke 250 might be a surprise for many, we’ve been talking about the possibility for the last one year and it’s great that it has finally happened. We feel that they have slightly sacrificed the Duke 200 for it though but something is better than nothing.

The new KTM duke 250 shares some its design with the Duke 390 but cost-cutting measures are evident. Its headlight is different and the instrument console is not the advanced TFT display with smartphone integration which is seen on the Duke. However, the bike looks great nonetheless.

Powering the bike is a 248.8cc single cylinder 4 stroke mill, which delivers 31.3 PS and 24 Nm. This makes it similar to the Dominar 400, which is however priced much lower.

Advanced features like Slipper clutch, USD front forks and ABS are provided.

The bike is available in Orange and white colours.

This is bit of a surprise as the Duke 200 has been retained without many changes for 2017. It seems that KTM wants to provide a clear distinction between their 250cc and 200 cc offerings.

The 2017 Duke 200 will get new colour schemes and a BS-IV compliant engine.

Though the Duke 250 has everyone talking, it is still the Duke 390 which is the top dog here. The bike is now even better equipped and frankly, we don’t see anything wrong with it except for the increased prices, that is (not a big deal!).

The 2017 KTM Duke 390 gets an updated design, very similar to their flagship Super Duke. Upfront twin split LED headlamps can be seen which is different from both the smaller Dukes. The large TFT display with smartphone integration is a first in the price segment.

The bike comes with all bells and whistles equipped including Slipper clutch and ABS.
