The all-new 2017 Maruti Suzuki dZire has been revealed in its entirety, prior to its May 16 launch. The car is available in 4 trims and gets thorough cosmetic changes. If you haven’t noticed already, Maruti will not be using the Swift brand name on this compact sedan anymore. This is not only because the car is a very different from the 2017 Swift hatchback but the manufacture also wants to create a distinct identity for it.

2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Maruti Suzuki has built the compact sedan from ground up, based on the HEARTECT lightweight architecture, derived from the Baleno. Cosmetic changes are aplenty, and its interior is different as well.
Exterior
The new Dzire borrows design cues from both the Swift and Baleno, perhaps even from other manufacturer (ahm, Ford) as well. It looks good and you can understand why Maruti decided to drop the ‘Swift’ name.
Front fascia gets large single grille, lined by chrome and a prominent Suzuki logo. The headlamps are new auto LED units and the bumper has been restyled.
Its sides look good and are now much better integrated with the boot. Good looking, 15” alloy wheels are also provided. Changes on the rear include a new boot lid, bumper and LED taillights.

- Gallant Red
- Magma Gray
- Silky Silver
Interior
On the inside, Maruti claims that they have improved the overall comfort and space. Though the interior is still dual tone black-beige colour, the beige here looks much better and premium. Generous amount of silver and faux wood can also be seen but they do feel a bit too much at some places.
Features include rear aircon vents and a 7″ touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, sourced from Baleno & Ignis.
Safety is improved by features like ABS, EBD, dual air bags and child restraints that come as standard. These are part of the new safety regulations.

Maruti Suzuki dZire engine, transmission, mileage
The new dZire facelift comes with the same 1.2 liter K-series petrol and 1.3 liter DDis Diesel but their power and torque figures are not revealed yet. They are unlikely to change from the current car’s 84 hp and 75 hp respectively.
Popularity of automatic variants mean that AGHS (AMT) will be provided on all but the base variant. With 80+ kgs shaved off from its weight, the Dzire will most definitely beat the impressive 26.59 /20.85 kml of the current models.
The AMT model will have very similar mileage figures to the manual variants.
Petrol engine | Power | 84 BHP |
Torque | 114 Nm | |
Diesel Engine | Power | 74 BHP |
Torque | 190 Nm | |
Transmission | 5-Speed Manual | 5-Speed AMT |
Mileage diesel | 27.5 kmpl |
Mileage Petrol | 22 kmpl |
