The 2017 Audi A7 will debut later this year and the car is currently undergoing testing in Europe. It will be based on Audi’s MLB Evo platform and will take inspiration from the Prologue concept.
2019 Audi A7 – In the news
The next-generation Audi A7 catches fire while testing in Austria
A test mule of the upcoming Audi A7 2019 caught fire due to unknown reason while undergoing routine testing in the Austrian Alps. The car was completely destroyed by the fire but thankfully, no one on the inside was seriously hurt.
Such kinds of mishaps are not rare and cars like the Honda NSX, Mercedes -AMG SLS Black Series have all gone through the ordeal. Silver lining is that Audi can now work on rectiffying this serious problem, prior to its release scheduled for 2018.
2019 Audi A7, S7, RS7 Design
The 2019 A7 will adopt Audi’s all-new design language, similar to the one we see on the new A5.
The new A7 gets a lot of ‘Prologue’ in its design. The car’s grille extends on to the bumper and air intakes can be seen on its sides and bottom. The headlamps are new and the front fascia as a whole has improved.
The car’s swooping hatchback and 5-meter length are prominently visible at its sides. Beautiful alloy wheels and sharp creases below the doors bring a lot of character.
The S7 and RS7 variants will get even bigger changes. Based on the variant, these could include quad-exhaust tip, wider wheel arches, wider tyres and different alloy wheels.
Much like the Prologue concept, interior is expected to be simple yet feature rich. Audi’s virtual cockpit and an integrated digital touchscreen system will take care of most controls inside the car, including air conditioning, navigation, lighting and drive mode select. This will help to keep clunky dials to the minimum.
Top-spec S7 and RS7 variants will have different seats, flat bottom steering wheel, sporty contrasting inserts and even more drive-oriented features.
2019 Audi A7, S7, RS7 Engine
The new A7’s base variants will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill, available in both petrol and diesel. Higher variants including the S7 and RS7 will get a 3.0-liter V-6 in both fuel options, and a number of different tunes.
Sadly, unless there is a sufficient demand, Audi is unlikely to retain the current V8 engines. Also, no V6 diesel will come to the United States.
2019 Audi A7 Electric and Hybrid models
Audi might also bring out an ‘e-Tron’ plugin hybrid variant to counter similar competition in the segment. However, an all-electric model is only expected by 2020.
2019 Audi A7 Price and Release date

In USA, the new A7 will go on sale as 2019 model in 2018. The S7 and RS7 variant will take their time and will only be released after the A7.
