Kawasaki has launched the Ninja 1000 in India for a price starting from Rs. 9.98 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). When compared with its predecessor, the bike is more aggressive and has better features. The event also witnessed the launch of a base variant of the Z900 whose price starts at Rs. 7.68 lakhs.
Kawasaki Ninja 1000
Kawasaki makes the Ninja 1000 tread very close to their ZX range with the new update. The bike retains a twin headlamp set-up at front but is sharper, wider and more aggressive than the outgoing model. Also, the LED headlamps are brighter yet use 50% less power than conventional lamps.
The bikes front also gets 3-way adjustable windscreen. Its fairing is sharper than before and the seat height has been reduced to 815mm. Some of its mechanicals have also changed.
Powering the Ninja 1000 is a 1043cc inline-four motor that produces 142PS at 10000rpm and 111Nm of torque at 7300rpm. This engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission.
The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 will be brought to India as Semi Knocked Down (SKD) unit. However, only 20 units of the model has been allotted initaly.
Kawasaki Z900 base variant
The 2017 Z900 has been stripped of its accessories to form a new base variant, priced at Rs. 7.68 lakhs. The bike loses features like flyscreen, front fork crash bobbin, engine guards, radiator guard, engine casing covers and gel tank pad. The 12V charging socket on the handlebar, premium seat cover and pillion seat cowl with small back cushioning for the rider are also missing.
The bike is powered by a 948cc inline-four engine that belts out 125PS of power at 9500rpm and 98.6Nm of torque at 7500rpm.
