2017 Maruti Suzuki S Cross- Early news, spy shots

The upcoming Suzuki S-Cross facelift has been spied at a production facility in Hungary. The car is expected to get official unveil at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

2017 Maruti Suzuki S Cross

The Maruti S-Cross isn’t doing very well in India. Limited availability through Nexa outlets can be said to be one reason, but for the most part people weren’t impressed by its design (especially since it belonged to a premium range).

The 2017 Maruti Suzuki S Cross will have a chance to leave the past behind. The car has been provided with a more muscular, completely restyled front fascia. This is an obvious enhancement because the current model  lacked ruggedness and felt a bit tame. A quirky headlamp design can be seen with projector units and LED DRLs. The grills are vertical slats and get done in chrome. The bonnet is a stubby chiseled out unit and the circular foglamps are housed in the bumper. While the pictures taken from a distance showed a very premium design, the new close-up pictures make us not to go in to any early conclusions.

The sides are mostly unchanged except for the new side cladding on the wheel arches and the different set of alloys. The rear and the interiors are not revealed in the new spy shots. But expect the rear to become more rugged and the interior to get  features like different infotainment system and more premium upholstery.

Mechanically, the 1.3-litre DDiS 200 and the 1.6-litre DDiS 320 diesel engines will continue in India. As discussed earlier a 1.5-litre four cylinder, M15 petrol engine producing 100 HP could be part of the new upgrade. The global variant should get the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine(also expected on the Baleno RS)

Talking about launch, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki S Cross will only reach India in 2017.

Update #1

We’ve got the best shots of the upcoming (Maruti) Suzuki S-Cross from a preview event in Hungary. As said earlier, the front fascia has been thoroughly updated, but the side and rear seem unchanged.

Interior has been updated with new dashboard trims, instrument console and MID unit. Better seats with contrasting stitches and new infotainment system will also be provided.

Powering this particular model is a 1.4-litre Boosterjet ‘turbocharged’ petrol engine that delivers 140 hp and 220 Nm of torque. Suzuki’s AllGrip all-wheel-drive system is also seen, which may be part of the top-trim on launch.
