Vauxhall has revealed a performance GSi version of the Insignia at the 2017 IAA. The Insignia, though sensible and relatively affordable, is not something you can boast to your friend when it comes to performance. The GSi version tries to fill this hole with 256hp of power, AWD and a well-placed body kit.

|Engine variants||petrol & diesel|
True to its nature, the Insignia gains a sportier body kit that is fit with revised bumper, larger air intakes, side skirts and a subtle boot spoiler. There are also large 20” alloy wheels and very noticeable twin exhaust pipes.
Power for the car comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine that produces 257 horsepower (191 kilowatts) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque. This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, sending power to all four wheels. Features like sports suspension and Brembo brakes give even more credibility to the GSi badge.
If you are looking for a more practical sports tourer, this range-topping model also comes with a 2.0-liter biturbo diesel that produces a hefty 354 lb-ft (479 Nm) of torque and 198 hp (147 kW) of power. This variant is however not expected to be avaialbel initially.
Though it has a GSi badge, the car is still an Insignia at heart. So its customers will probably be mileage conscious.
