The KTM RC250 has been spied testing on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. The bike looks identical to the RC390 but gets new decals and RC badging. If it is launched, the Austrian manufacturer will have the most concentrated sportsbike portfolio south of Rs. 2.5 lakhs in India.

There’s not much to talk about in the design department. It looks identical to the RC390 and even has a conventional exhaust set-up. It does however get a good-looking new colour combination.
When compared to the 390, the RC250 lacks certain features like ABS, Slipper clutch and ride-by-wire. Dual-channel ABS is available on international versions of the bike but as per the rider, it won’t make our shores. ABS’ presence on this particular test mule could however mean that it’s an optional equipment.
The bike gets features like 43mm USD front forks at front and WP monoshock at rear. Braking duties are done by 300 mm front and a 230 mm rear disc. Power comes from the same 248.8cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that is on the Duke 250, and it is capable of producing 30bhp and 24Nm of torque. This will make the RC250 the most powerful fully faired motorcycle under 2 lakhs, that is, if the TVS Akula 310 has nothing to say about it.
New KTM RC250 price, competition and launch in India
If launched, the KTM RC250 will be the sole 250cc fully-faired motorcycle in the country. With respectable prices, KTM can easily exploit the segment, much like what they have done with all their previous motorcycles. Since the KTM Duke 250 is priced at Rs. 1.75 lakh ex-showroom(Delhi), we can expect its RC version to command a premium of at least Rs. 10,000.
There’s no official confirmation as to when KTM plans to launch the motorcycle in India but it’s likely to be very soon.
