2018 Mahindra XUV500 (petrol & 170hp diesel) in works

2018 Mahindra XUV500

The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 has been spied testing in India. The SUV is heavily camouflaged and the new ‘XUV Aero’ inspired alloy wheels are its biggest giveaway. If changes on the Scorpio facelift are anything to go by, it could get a new front fascia with updated grille as well.

An upgraded diesel engine along with a new petrol option could make it to the list of changes.

Price diesel Rs. 12.52 lakhs
Price petrol Rs. 10.5 lakhs

2018 Mahindra XUV500 design and specs

The spied Mahindra XUV500 had camouflage throughout its body. This, when looking at its silhouette, is probably much more than necessary. Better pictures could reveal minor cosmetic additions, including more aggressive lines and crease. The SUV also gains new ‘XUV Aero’ inspired alloy wheels.

The new XUV500 could also get an updated front fascia with new ‘toothed-grille’, and different bumper and foglamps. On the inside, better material quality, improved upholstery and different colour schemes are expected.

Eventhough the 2018 XUV500 has a revamped engine list, most of its other specifications will remain unchanged.

2018 Mahindra XUV500 engine changes

The Mahindra XUV500 will come with the same 2.2 L mHawk diesel engine which is doing duty on the current model. However, numerous reports state that it will be re-tuned to be on-par or above competition like the Tata Hexa and Jeep Compass. The engine will likely produce 170 bhp and 400 Nm of torque.

Apart from this, a 2.2-liter new petrol engine is also expected. This will place it closer to the new Renault Captur.  The 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options are unlikely to change.

2018 Mahindra XUV500 price and launch date

The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 could debut at the upcoming Auto Expo, Delhi or earlier. Its updates are likely to slightly push up the prices but introduction of petrol means that the overall range would start at a much lower bracket.
