2018 Hero Xtreme NXT (200S) to launch on January 30, 2018

The 2018 Hero Xtreme NXT (200S) will launch in India on January 30, prior to the Delhi Auto Expo which is scheduled for early February. It will be Hero’s answer to the likes of Bajaj Pulsar 200S and Apache RTR 2004V, and carries forward the Xtreme’s or rather the CBZ’s legacy.

The production version of the Hero Xtreme 200S has been titled Xtreme NXT. It will launch on January 30, 2018.

Prices will be competitive, and should be lower than its peers. Hero will be banking on this price advantage to woo customers.

2018 Hero Xtreme NXT (200S) design

Instead of going for an outright streetfighter design (like the 200NS or the Apache), Hero has created a commuter on steroids. It may not be to everyone’s taste but the manufacturer feels that there is a market for such a bike. They could target people who want something sportier than the Xtreme but not as sport-oriented as some of its competitors.

As we said, design could go either way. Front and back are nearly identical to the Xtreme, while its sides get beefed up with bigger fairing and extra cowling. The Dual tone shade is flashy and could be (should be) toned down on the production model.

The bike is expected to share design and dimensions with the concept on entering production.

It is not exceptionally gifted in terms of features or power. The bike comes with a 200cc, air cooled, carb engine producing 18.34 BHP and 17.2 Nm of torque. This mill is mated a 5-speed transmission.

Features like rear monoshock, front and rear disc brakes and ABS are provided. Its instrument console is digital-analogue, with blue backlit.

Xtreme 200S- Is it a risk worth taking?

Among better looking competition, the Xtreme 200S is definitely a risk. It doesn’t have the flare of a streetfighter but isn’t mature enough to be a commuter either. It will be interesting to see how the bike fares in the segment.

Let’s just hope Hero has done their research this time.
