The 2018 Indian Scout Bobber will reach US dealerships in September this year. The motorcycle, obviously, is based on the Scout but is targeted towards a much younger Audience.
Though the name ‘Bobbber’ doesn’t really scream youthfulness, this is exactly what the typically conventional, US-based manufacturer expects from their new motorcycle. The bike seems to have lived up to its intended effect and doesn’t disspoint cosmetically.

2018 Indian Scout Bobber design
Indian motorcycles is USA’s oldest motorcycle makers and until now they have struck to keeping their heritage and cruiser-lifestyle intact. The brand is perhaps one the most synonymous with American motorcycling culture but they failed to make an impression with newer breed of riders including young professionals and Millennials. This is where the Scout Bobber comes in, perhaps the company’s first motorcycle intended at these group of people.
In terms of design, you can see its affiliation with the Scout very clearly. However, the bike as a whole is less intimidating and its colours, less in-your-face.

Its stripped down, muscular look is complimented by knobby tyres, chopped fenders and a moulded leather seat. The new tracker-styled handlebars, new foot peg placement and its reduced ride height gives is a tighter, more aggressive ride position, which should impress the targeted audience. Other changes include, new sporty headlamp with shroud, bold ‘Indian’ badging on the fuel tank, different engine cover and downward-slung bar-end mirrors.
2018 Indian Scout Bobber engine & specification
The Scout Bobber borrows its mechanicals from the standard Scout, including the brakes, gearing and engine. The ride position and suspension have however been tweaked for a sportier ride.
Power comes from the same 1131 cc, v-twin engine producing maximum of 100 bhp and 97.7 Nm, mated to a six-speed transmission.

The new Scout Bobber will begin to reach US dealerships by September this year. All standard colours are priced starting from $11,499 but you will have to shell out an extra $500 for the ‘Indian Motorcycle Red’. The most premium Thunder Black Smoke (matte) costs $12,499.

The Indian Scout Bobber is expected to reach India early next year. It should command a slight premium over the Scout which is priced at Rs. 12.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
