Mahindra showcased a bunch of spin-offs of their premium Mojo tourer at the 2016 Auto Expo, Delhi. Back then, there was no confirmation whether these models will ever see limelight. However, a recent report by CarToq claims that at least one of them may have already entered production.
2018 Mahindra Mojo Adventure
The Mojo Adventure was first showcased as a concept at last year’s Expo. It wasn’t some botched up job either, instead, we got to see a proper adventure variant of the Mojo.
Since some of the parts of the concept were custom made, it is unclear how much of it will be seen on the production model. However, the Mahindra Mojo Adventure will likely have dual purpose tyres, spoke wheels, bikini fairing and raised mud guard. The suspension will be raised and adjusted for better off road ability but other mechanical specs are likely to remain unchanged.
2018 Mahindra Mojo Adventure engine
Powering the new Mojo Adventure will be the same 295cc single cylinder, liquid-cooled mill, producing 27 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 30 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission.
2018 Mahindra Mojo Adventure price, launch date, availability
If production has already begun, it is likely that launch is scheduled for this year itself. However, we don’t have anything solid from Mahindra yet, so we can extend the time frame as far as the Auto Expo 2018. Price is also likely to more than the Mojo’s Rs. 169,870/- (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Mahindra is developing Mojo specific premium dealerships to expand the brand to more cities. The new Adventure variant thus be exclusive to them.
2018 Mahindra Mojo Adventure competition
Most major manufacturers will debut in India’s lower adventure segment within the next two years. Royal Enfield already has the Himalayan in the space, while KTM and BMW have already confirmed their bikes. Bajaj is mulling an adventure variant of the Dominar as well.
