Porsche has officially teased their eighth-generation ‘992’ 911 in Germany. The car will replace the existing gen-991.2, which got its last big news when the GT3 RS facelift came out on Tuesday. Unlike some of their compatriots, Porsche is saying a stern nein to complete electrification. In fact, even a hybrid variant would have to wait till 2022 or 2023.

Being a 911, the changes for 2019 are nothing but evolutionary. It gets an updated frame which is lighter and the car as a whole is wider. Rumours of a good boost in performance are likely to be true.

2019 Porsche 911 design and specs

The new 911 for the non-Porsche eyes is exactly same as the outgoing model. However, there are upgrades dotted both in its exterior and interior, strong enough for model director Mr. August Achleitner to claim that this will be the

best 911 ever

That’s a huge claim to make for a model which has been with us for, like, ever!

Ferrari 488 GTO/Pista

Coming to its design, the ever-so-slightly noticeable change is its raised rear. It will come with new rear light bar, raised rear engine cover and vertical vent slats. An image was posted in Instagram earlier teasing these changes but has since been removed.

There were rumours that the raised rear was an indication of underlying hybrid technology but as we said, nothing of that sort will materialize yet.

All the future Porshe 911’s will be turbocharged, spelling an end to NA units in the line-up. If the full-length rear wing and wider rear wheel arches were not any indication, there will definitely be more horsepower per block. Exact numbers aren’t out yet but the Turbo is rumoured to produce 592hp (61hp more) while the Turbo S, 632 hp!

Similar power upgrades will be present on other variants including the GT3, Carrera and Targa.

2019 Porsche 911 price and release date

The new Porshe 911, in its Carrera and Turbo guises, is expected to be showcased at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October. Prices will be slightly higher than the current model’s base price of $91,100/-.

The Targa, Cabrio and GT variants will come out later on.
